It's freezing outside, so is the gossip.

What do you do when you've been kicked out of the Playboy house?  You write a book, duh. Holly, Kendra, and Bridget all got together over the weekend to celebrate its launch.  Hmm... Other than the book, Holly is still dating Criss Angel, Kendra is still dating that fooball player, and Bridget is still working on her own show.

It looks like viewership for The Hills is way down!  Maybe the next season will be its last?  Who knows.  I wonder if anyone will be interested in Whitney's upcoming show, The City.

Melinda Doolittle, the third place finisher of American Idol's 6th season, is finally putting out an album.  I bet it won't do well.  I didn't really watch that season at all, but when I did, I didn't get too excited over Melinda.  I mean, she's a fine singer and all, but she just doesn't have the wow factor.

Have you ever wanted to look like Paula Abdul?  Me neither.  However, if "classy bling" is your thing, then check out the Home Shopping Network when Paula launches her own jewelry line!

Coming soon!

I'm starting a new venture in 2009...  It's called The Fierce Life and it's an expansion of Fierce Reality.  What do I mean, you ask?  Check it out here and see for yourself!

Don't worry; at this point, I'm still planning on updating Fierce Reality regularly, but it's about time that I branched out and preached on some other topics.

:)  Enjoy!

So there's this show called X Factor in the UK, right?  It's their version of American Idol. Anyhow, some girl named Alexandra Burke won last night, and she got to perform "Listen" from Dreamgirls with Beyonce.  Fierce, right?  I can't imagine someone like Beyonce being on Idol; X Factor just knows how to bring in the stars!  Anyhow, it's a great performance.  Alexandra is good--a little flat on some of her high notes--but good.  Beyonce is fierce.

Speaking of American Idol, it looks like we are in for some changes this season.  There's apparently going to be less focus on the auditions and more on the Hollywood rounds; 36 finalists will be chosen instead of the usual 24.  Also, they're bringing back the wildcard choice, in which each judge gets to pick one finalist who wouldn't have made it otherwise.  I like it.

I can't even bring myself to listen to the rest of Kanye's performance of "Heartless" on SNL the other night...  It's horrible.  Dear Kayne: you're not a singer.  Love, Matt.

NBC is bringing a new dance show to its lineup in early 2009.  It's called Superstars of Dance, and it pits teams from different countries against one another.  Each team is comprised of two solo dancers, one couple, and one larger group.  Interesting.

Final Thought: Here is all you ever wanted to know about the scheduling of the upcoming season of Idol...

Misc.

How cute is Clay Aiken's boyfriend?  Reed Kelly, Broadway star.  Loves it.  Good for Clay, you know?  I mean, it's about time that he ended up with someone fierce.  I can't help but wish that it were me, though...

Who is the next celebrity to appear on Dancing With The Stars, you ask?  It's none other than Stevie Wonder.  Interesting chocie, I say.  First of all, he's blind; second of all, I could never really imagine him on the show!

Final Thought: How hot is Maks?  A lot of people are bashing his recent red carpet pics, but I can't help but drool just a little bit.

Midnight Gem: Paula Abdul Style

Pop Quiz.

Q: What's the most important part of this article?

A: The part about Paula's forthcoming cheerleading show!  I can't wait.

Here's more, from (perhaps) a (slightly) more trustworthy site.

Nice Cover!

Here's a clip of David Archuleta's recent rendition of "A Thousand Miles" at a tree lighting ceremony in Hollywood. A few of my thoughts:

1. His voice sounds great and the song is a good choice for him.
2. He needs to spend some more time at the piano because he makes a few fumbles. It's a great effect, though, him playing and singing.
3. Even better than the video itself is the commentary from thousands of teenage girls on the YouTube page, as well as in the live audience.  Check it out.

Saturday evening gossip...

What are the producers of Dancing With The Stars thinking?  There are rumors going around that Steve-O from Jackass is going to be partaking in the next season!  Interesting...  He's a totally crazy guy, but something about him is super sexy.  At least in my opinion.

The next celebrity couple to get their own show?  Looks like it's gonna be soap star Lisa Rinna and her husband Harry Hamlin.  The most interesting this about this show is that it's supposedly being shopped by TV Land.  Hm...

Haven't heard much gossip about Holly Madison and her new beau, Criss Angel, but these pics sure are worth a look at.  Apparently my favorite ex-Girl[s] Next Door has decided to go with a more natural look lately!  Bonus: a few pics of her pre-Playboy.  Fierce tranny mess.

Well, almost.

The Grammy nominations were announced at a live concert event this past week, and my girl Jennifer Hudson wound up with FOUR nominations!!!

*Best R&B Song, "Spotlight"
*Best R&B Performance By A Duo or Group, "I'm His Only Woman," with Fantasia
*Best Female R&B Performance, "Spotlight"

Other reality TV alums receiving nods include Jordin Sparks ("No Air," duet with Chris Brown, Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals), Leona Lewis from the UK's X Factor ("Bleeding Love," Record of the Year), and Carrie Underwood ("Last Name," Best Female Country Vocal Performance).  Congrats!

I can't avoid it any longer.

Yes, Heidi and Spencer got married, I know.  I just didn't want to give them so much credit by writing about it.  Oh well.  There's really nothing else going on right now, so I guess I can push aside my morals and give some dish...

Both of the newlyweds are now confirming the news and assuring their fans that the wedding will air on an upcoming episode of The Hills.  Great!

The wedding took place in Mexico over the weekend.  Heidi and Spencer are both wearing really ugly rings.

Final Thought: This pic from a charity event last night is a little strange...  I remember David Archuleta being cuter and Ryan Seacrest being not so tan.  Oh well.

Updates from Thanksgiving in Cincinnati

Season seven of Dancing with the Stars has come to an end, and Brooke Burke and her partner Derek Hough were given the mirror ball trophy and crowned the winners.  Congrats!  I mean, they were probably the best couple in terms of talent, showmanship, and audience appreciation, so it's really no surprise.

This is a little scary.  Carson Daly is going to be a father!  Is it ironic that he waited 'till TRL went off the air to announce his big news?  He's kind of a strange looking guy these days, but remember how amazing he was in the early part of the millennium?  He was hot shit!

Sick of football yet today?  If you are, here's a nice schedule of all the reality TV on today and tonight.  Quite a few fun marathons!

Midnight Gem--Why she's still my favorite.

I could write for days about her performance (which I missed live but just caught on YouTube), but to put it bluntly, Christina Aguilera is amazing at the American Music Awards tonight. Who else could perform a seven-minute-long medley of some of her greatest hits, singing and dancing like she didn't just have a baby a year ago?

In general, the AMA's were OK. I really enjoyed the live performances, especially from Mariah, Pink, Beyonce, and (of course) Christina. The awards themselves were pretty blah and uneventful, except I don't understand why Rihanna wasn't even nominated for Artist of the Year.

Anyways, Christina, you're right: you keep gettin' better.

(Almost) Midnight Gem--The Most Horrible Day of My Life

I thought I was the only one!

The day that David Cook beat my boyfriend (aka David Archuleta) on American Idol is one that will live in infamy... These 11-year old girls have the same reaction that I did.

And who can blame them/me?  I mean, he doesn't even shave!!!  Ha.

This is truly a gem.

Story time. Gather 'round.

McKey (the brown-haired one) won America's Next Top Model the other night.  Out of the three finalists, she was my favorite.  She just has that high-fashion/runway look that they other two girls just didn't quite have.  After 11 seasons (or cycles, as Tyra prefers them to be called), I think the show is starting to get a little flat...  I mean, there are only so many ridiculous photo shoots they can come up with.

In other Tyra news, Robert Pattinson made a surprise appearance on her show and gave Tyra something that every teenage girl and like 12% of men want: a bite on the neck.  Lucky bitch.

Julianne Hough may be putting away her dancing shoes forever, or at least for the next season of Dancing With The Stars.  She's going to focus more on her "music career."  Hm.  In this interview, she also predicts that her brother Derek and partner Brooke Burke will be the champions of this season.  I may have to agree...

It's about time!  The most successful American Idol champ, Kelly Clarkson, is working on a new album, and the first single may be released soon!  I hope it's good.

You can't make this stuff up.

Think Tila Tequila was ridiculous?  So did I.  How could you possibly up the "shock factor"?

The answer: have a set of bisexual twins take part in the next season, called A Double Shot At Love.

The show will follow the same format as its predecessor, in which the two girls will choose the loves of their lives from a group of 12 lesbians and 12 straight guys.  It's gonna be a shitshow. And I'm gonna watch.

Thursday, November 20, 2008

this is not good

I don't really see the connection between our struggling economy and the fact that reality TV viewership has been down lately, but some people a lot smarter than I do.

This is bad.  Very bad.

Midnight Gem--Judge Alex: Case of the Eyebrows

This shit is just funny. Two fierce tranny messes and a hot judge.

Midnight Gem: Diana DeGarmo

Awwww she's all grown up!  Diana DeGarmo used to be the cute, blonde-haired bombshell with the unsuspecting (white girl) voice on season three of American Idol.  Now, she's at the CMA's with a darker 'do and still looking fierce.

Remember this performance?  It's amazing.  Talk about vowel modifications (teeee----eeeahhhhhhh!)...  She can belt.  I love it.

RIP Mad TV

I can't believe it...  FOX has cancelled my favorite sketch show Mad TV after 14 successful seasons...  Devastating news, to be sure.  The show has produced so many memorable characters--Lorraine, Stuart, Miss Swan, Dot, and countless others, many of whom have been portrayed by some fabulous actors and comedians, including fellow Singing Hoosier alum Nicole Parker.

(Not Quite Midnight) Gem--The God Warrior

Truly a classic moment from the vaults of reality TV. I may have posted this video before, but trust me, it's worth a second look.

Monday, November 10, 2008

A few stories...

Well, the list of injuries on Dancing With The Stars continues to grow...  This time it's Kym Johnson; apparently she fell or something and has injured her shoulder.  Luckily it won't take her out of the competition and she will dance tonight with Warren Sapp.  Who is next?

The new season of Hell's Kitchen will be premiering on January 29  on FOX.  Will you be watching?  I might...  I haven't really gotten into that show because I think Gordon Ramsay is overrated, but maybe this season I will give it a try.

ABC has announced it's thirteenth season of The Bachelor will premier on January 5.  Who is the man this time?  It's Jason Mesnick, who didn't win the last season of The Bachelorette. Creative, ABC, very creative.

That's really all that's going on in the world of reality TV...  Kinda boring, I know.

Monday, November 3, 2008

Oh Anotonio... (etc.)

Antonio Sabato, Jr. is gonna be the next celeb to get his own reality show...  He's searching for the love of his life, "the kind of love you see in the movies."  If you think you've got what it takes (and you're a woman, apparently), check out this link.  I wish I could apply; he's fierce.

Last season's American Idol champ David Cook is finally putting out his album sometime next week.  In an interview with People magazine, Cook says that his life hasn't really changed that much, he just has "more resources."  AKA more money.  Must be nice.

Bravo is preparing for the loss of Project Runway with a whole slew of new reality shows based on the fashion industry.  Check them out!

I spent so many hours of my life in middle school and high school watching Total Request Live...  It's hard to believe that the show is finally coming to and end!  Music videos just aren't as important as they once were.

Sunday news...

It looks like American Idol champ Carrie Underwood has found herself a new man--former Bachelor Travis Stork!  They were recently seen having dinner together in Philly; also, Travis has been spotted backstage at a few of Carrie's concerts.  They make a great looking couple!

What were you for Halloween?  Some of Reality TV's biggest stars hit some parties with some fierce costumes...

*Here's Heidi Klum as a Hindu god.  If you're gonna do it, do it all the way!
*Ex-member of Making the Band Aubrey O'Day was The Little Mermaid.  What's with the dog?
*Kim Kardashian dressed up as Wonder Woman.  She's actually completely clothed!
*He could have tried harder...  Lance Bass was a High School Musical graduate.
*She's dating that ugly dude and dressed as Pamela Anderson...  Good one, Holly Madison.

McCain/Palin on SNL

In case you missed it, check out this clip from Saturday Night Live last night.  It's pretty entertaining.  My favorite parts are Cindy's cameo and McCain's shout-out to Heidi.  Loves it.

As a reminder, go out and VOTE on Tuesday!  Let's make history happen.

Midnight Gem--Stylista: Jason Freaks Out

OK, so I don't really remember hearing much about this new show on The CW called Stylista. But I did some research.  The premise is this: eleven hopefuls are given jobs as interns for Elle magazine; each week, they compete in various tasks until one is left.  The winner gets a job with Elle, a fierce apartment in Manhattan, and a shopping spree at H&M.  Interesting...

Anyways, this clip is great.  One of the gaytestants, Jason, completely freaks out.  He's nervous about his team members ratting him out or something like that...  I don't know the details, but I know that it's amazing.

Thursday, October 30, 2008

This is a new "tag" I'm trying out...  It's called "Midnight Gems" and it's clips/news stories/thoughts/etc. that come to me late at night, just before I tuck myself into bed.

This clip is hilarious.  It's from Mad TV and it's a spoof of So You Think You Can Dance?  The clip alone is pretty good, but once Crista Flanagan (as judge Mary Murphy) starts laughing, I couldn't contain myself.  Pretty funny.

Anderson Cooper with Kelly Ripa

OK, watch this clip and then think about the following questions...

1. Why is Anderson giggling the entire time?
2. How come he looks like he's so in shape (read: fierce arms) but has zero flexibility?
3. Why won't he just DO what she's SAYING?  I don't get it...
4. Does this workout really work?
5. Anderson Cooper: Hot or Not?

This is the stuff dreams are made of...

Well, something new actually happened on reality TV last night.  That's right, Ladies and Gentleman, there was a group HIP HOP routine on Dancing With The Stars.

Honestly, what more needs to be said?

Watch it in all its glory HERE.

Monday bits & pieces...

Danity Kane is really falling apart.  It's being reported that Shannon has decided to leave the group amidst all the drama, cat-fighting, and name-calling.  This means that only two girls remain--Dawn and Aundrea.  Sad times for sure; the end of an era, even.  I wonder what Diddy will do with the name and image of Danity Kane...  I mean, it's obvious that this group is over, unless they try to rebuild the group during the next season of Making The Band.  Who knows.

Two of the pro dancers on Dancing With The Stars have come under heavy scrutiny this season for their apparent "weight gain."  That's right, people are saying that Cheryl Burke and Lacey Schwimmer need to drop the pounds.  And it's not just people in the media or jealous fans; apparently the male pro dancers have said some truly nasty things in regards to these ladies.  I think it's ridiculous.

Final Thought: Happy Birthday, Kelly Osbourne!  You used to look crazy but now that you're 24 you don't look so bad.

When horrible things happen to fierce people...

I saw the "breaking news" of this story a few days ago, but the details are so tragic...  And, it hits close to home for me...

Jennifer Hudson's mother and two other family members were shot and killed in their Southside Chicago home on Friday.  To make matters even worse, a young boy, Jennifer's nephew, has been missing since the family members were found dead.  There's currently an Amber Alert in Chicago (which I saw a few times on the high way driving back into the city today), and people are being asked to call 911 with any information.  Law enforcement is looking for a 1994 white Chevy Suburban with IL plates reading X584859.

What terrible news.  I just hope for the safe return of the boy...

"I would rather be hated on every damn day of my life than loved for something I'm not."

So, American Idol loser and future Celebrity Rehab superstar Nikki McKibbin blames her drug/alcohol problems and bouts with depression on Simon Cowell.  She says that during her time in Idol, the comments from Simon made her sneak a bottle of vodka into the house and, if she wasn't too tired, "have one or two drinks."  My first question is this: one or two drinks means you're an alcoholic?  I'm in trouble...  Second question: does she think she's the only one who Simon was ever mean to?  Because she isn't.

What are some of your other favorite Idol alums up to?  Check it out here.

Unless you've been living under a rock, I trust that you have heard about the dismissal of Aubrey and D. Woods from Danity Kane.  I just don't get it, to be completely honest.  I mean, I understand that Diddy has the final say and everything, but it just doesn't make sense.  It took two seasons of the show to find the right girls, and each of their personalities adds something very unique to the group.  Why is he throwing it all away?  Whatever.  I'm sure it won't take long for Aubrey to put out a solo album.  Here's what she said about the group and her dismissal--she's fierce.

That's all for now.

Saturday Night Stories

It's definitely not a spinoff...  J. Alexander and Jay Manuel of America's Next Top Model are getting their own show on The CW, in which five women from one town all get makeovers and do some sort of competition until a winner is chosen...  Interesting.  It's called Operation Fabulous.  Good one.

How many more spin-offs can they come up with?  This time it's Daisy from Rock Of Love's turn to try to find her one true love.  I'm sure some guy who loses on her show will end up with his own show, and so on and so on.  It's a vicious cycle and I LOVE IT.

Dancing With The Stars has come up with a Plan B.  So far this season, like five people have been injured on the show, including Misty May-Treanor who actually had to leave the competition.  Well, the producers have come up with this idea...  If a member of a team is injured during rehearsals and doesn't feel up to dancing live on the show, they can opt to show (probably edited) rehearsal footage.  Reality TV is so real!

This should be good: Sarah Palin has reportedly signed on to guest star on Saturday Night Live's October 25th show!  In all fairness, I hope she does a good job.

I can't wait to hear David Archuleta's debut album, due out November 11, a week before champion David Cook's own album drops.  David A. has finally landed a manager and all the pieces are coming together for the cutest crooner to hit the Idol stage.

Final Thought:  Seacrest out.  He's so funny.

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

All is not well in the Land of Danity Kane! And other things...

The rumors have been circulating for a while.  Though no official announcement has been made (yet), it looks like Danity Kane will be saying auf Wiedersehen to Aubrey!  Diddy made this known during last night's show, saying that Aubrey is no longer a part of the group.  !!!  I am a little shocked, to be honest; I mean, Aubrey was the stand-out from day one, and her vocals are among the strongest in the group.  But then again, I'm not that shocked because it seems like she (more than any of the other girls) has always tried to stand out a little...  Did you know that she was on Broadway this summer in Hairspray?  Interesting.  Be ready for something of substance regarding this matter next week on the season finale...  Can't wait!

OK, here's a question: what do you get when you combine one of my favorite singers EVER, two of my favorite dancers EVER, and a little men's gymnastics thrown in for good measure?  You get the results show of Dancing With The Stars!  Dancing together on the show for the first time (I think) were Juliane and Derek Hough.  Jennifer Hudson joined them, singing her hit single "Spotlight."  And Derek threw in some tumbling...  So amazing.  Was this segment created specifically for me?  I'd like to think so...  In any event, it's amazing and you must check it out.

Speaking of DWTS, they revealed on the results show that no couple would be going home this week due to the absence of Misty May-Treanor.  Instead, they announced that chef Rocco DiSpirito and his partner had the lowest score and would have gone home should Misty have remained in the contest.  Interesting.  And probably a very fair way to handle it.

Final Thought: Yeah, I'm obsessed with DWTS.  Do you remember this clip from the finale two seasons ago?  It's one of the best performances ever by two of the best people ever (Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas).  :)  (PS--apparently they're "just friends" these days...  sad)

Life as a reality star...

...must be difficult!  And by "difficult" I mean "pretty not bad."

Anyways, I watched The Hills last night.  Even though I really don't like the show, it's only a half hour long, and watching those crazy girls' "real lives" helps to make me feel like mine is somewhat normal.  I think the only one I really have any empathy for is Lauren; I mean, she is constantly drawing the short straw in life, constantly being the under-appreciated one.  Heidi looks like she has a makeup artist following her 24-7, constantly ready to give her touch-ups. Audrina just doesn't do it for me; something about her face is just not right.  And Lo?  Ugh, don't get me started.

Well, it's official: Hugh and Holly's relationship is over.  :(  Holly spent some time chatting with a TMZ reporter and, at the end, she mentions that she has no pull with Hef any longer, since they're not together.  There's still going to be another season of Girls Next Door though, which Holly promises will be better than ever.

**Update**
In case you are still skeptical, Holly has released a statement via her blog regarding her relationship with Hef (as well as Bridget and Kendra), her current living arrangements, and her plans for the future.

Reality Birthdays:
American Idol champ (ha) Taylor Hicks--32
Matt Roloff from Little People, Big World--47
Singer turned Dancer Toni Braxton--41
American Idol Judge Simon Cowell--49
The View's Joy Behar--65

Monday Morning--what's going on?

Well, it's officially Fall here in Chicago, but apparently it's still pretty warm out in LA, where Dancing With The Stars is filmed.  Check out Derek Hough after a long (and intense?) rehearsal... Ugh, he's cute.

This really comes as no surprise because all parties involved are uneducated idiots: Heidi Montag endorses Sarah Palin (and therefore John McCain).  Duh.

According to one of her cast-mates, Misty May-Treanor is definitely leaving the cast of Dancing With The Stars.  Brooke Burke let it slip this morning on a radio show.

Sunday, October 5, 2008

Sunday news breaks...

This is sad.  Misty May-Treanor and her partner, the uber-hot Maksim Chmerkovsky, have had to drop out of Dancing With The Stars!  Misty apparently broke her ankle during a rehearsal for the upcoming week's show; I wonder how this will affect the voting--will they eliminate someone? Or maybe they'll bring back Kim Kardashian who was eliminated last week; it's not like she has anything better to do.

Here's the latest Governor Sarah Palin skit from Saturday Night Live, this time poking fun at her recent debate with Senator Joe Biden.  Good stuff.

Tonight's line-up on TV looks good!  Too bad I'll be at work.  :(

Since he's been out for a week or so now, Clay Aiken is super dramatic; he has taken to his own blog and let us hear it!  In his entry, he talks about the fame that comes with American Idol, why he chose to never directly comment on his sexuality until recently, and other gay snippets.

That's all.

Thursday, October 2, 2008

Miscellany--

OK, so, The View.  It's a whatever show, to be completely honest.  But every now and then, the bitches make a point.  Today's point is this: Elizabeth Hasselbeck is an idiot and Sarah Palin is not fit to be the President of the United States.  Watch and learn.

I mean, I am not politically-savvy enough to really commentate on the inadequacies of Sarah Palin, but my lady friends on The View really stuck it to Elizabeth as well as John McCain and the rest of the Republicans...  What are they thinking???  She's the Governor of Alaska.  I could be the Governor of Alaska.  It just doesn't make sense.

Basically (and I haven't said anything about this thusfar), it's time for everyone to Barack Out with your C*ck Out!

DWTS

I haven't gotten to watch too much Dancing With The Stars so far this season, but thank God for YouTube!  Today I checked out a few of the live performances that have happened so far and want to share them...

First of all, Jesse McCartney performed his hit "Leavin'" and, to be honest, I am quite impressed. He sounds good and, as usual, looks hot.

This one's a gem--it's Jessica "I'm A Country Singer" Simpson belting out her hit from a few years ago, a cover of Robbie Williams' "Angels."  Something has happened to Jessica because she used to be pretty fierce live...  It sounds like her range has diminished, too, so she's having trouble with those top notes.  Oh well.  At least Maks was dancing during it.

Kim Kardashian was eliminated on the results show last night...  No big loss, really.

Monday, September 29, 2008

Sarah Palin is BACK (on SNL)!!!

In case you missed it...  Because I know I did!  Tina Fey reprised her role as Governor Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live last night.  Amy Poehler was also in the sketch, and this time, I think she nailed it (as Katie Couric).  Check it out.

In other news, Oxygen network has taken over America's Next Top Model!  Not only do they have the exclusive rights to the past seasons, they will be airing the current season on their network. It's really not that exciting, I know...

Final Thought: Happy Birthday, Bam Margera!  (And Lora, Serena, Jamie, etc.)

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Tuesday news...

OK, the excitement of Clay Aiken's coming-out has waned...  On to more exciting (?) news.

Yess!!  The season premier of Dancing With The Stars last night scored 21 million viewers (the other big show that night--Heroes--premiered with like 8 million viewers [hahahaha Kim]).  It was a great show, too.  My early favorites: Lance Bass (duh), Toni Braxton, Kim Kardashian, and Cody Linley.  And it's a great season because my three favorite male pros are all in attendance--Mark Ballas, Maksim Chmerkovsky, and Derek Hough.

It's becoming more and more clear that Hef and his three girlfriends are breaking up.  Or, as he puts it, "in transition."  Awww...  That makes me sad.  I love his relationship with the three girls; the season finale of that show will be sad for sure.

In addition to being on DWTS, "celebrity" chef Rocco Dispirito will also be making a guest appearance on an upcoming Biggest Loser episode.  Good for him.  He's cute.

Final Thought: Happy Birthday to American Idol season 5's Paris Bennett!  What are you doing with your life?

BREAKING NEWS!!! / It's About Time

Well, after years and years of denying it, saying it was only between him and God, Clay Aiken has come clean--and come out of the closet!  Congrats, Clay!  I hope all of the 55-year old Claymates aren't too upset...  The news broke after his baby mama gave birth to a healthy child; Clay decided it was time to stop living a lie.  I think he's gonna be on the cover of next week's People magazine.

Monday, September 22, 2008

This is why I'm glad I missed the Emmys last night.

Josh Groban's super-strange performance, a montage of memorable TV songs, might make your ears bleed. What's with the gospel choir? The kick line? And what's with Josh Groban, anyways? I thought he was done... Ugh.

Project Runway Recap (100th Entry!)

OK, so, Project Runway.  This is the first episode I've watched all the way through this season, and I have to say that it's getting a little boring.  Nothing is really shocking anymore; I mean, no one can beat Christian Siriano saying "fierce" at least twice in every sentence, and nothing touches "Project Runway: The Musical" from season two.

That said, it was a decent episode.  The challenge was for the designers to do a full makeover for recent college graduates, consulting with both the young ladies and their mothers. Throwing in the moms made the challenge much more interesting--listening to a mother's opinion of what her daughter should look like and how she should dress is usually quite different from the daughter's own ideas...

Anyways, the runway looks are, for the most part, pretty good.  Joe's design wasn't good enough and he was sent home...  Jerell, my favorite, won the challenge.

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Before my Project Runway recap, I thought I'd share with you some of the day's top reality TV stories.

First of all, it sounds like American Idol is going to be un-fierce this season.  Even Paula says there haven't been any good auditions!  And, since there are four judges now, Simon will have the deciding vote in the event of a tie, giving him even more power.

I watched an episode of The Cho Show the other night, and Margaret recorded a "hit single" because she was looking for a way to get herself some tabloid press.  It looks like her dream has become a reality, because her new single is available for download on iTunes!  No, I'm not going to be downloading it.

So it sounds like ALL of Hef's girlfriends might be getting their own reality shows!  Does that mean that Girls Next Door could be shutting down?  I hope not; I love that show.

Kathy Griffin, star of My Life On The D-List (and one of my favorite comediennes), won her second Emmy!  Congrats, girl.

Birthday reality stars:
Wade Robson, 26.  Super hot choreographer for The Wade Robson Project and So You Think You Can Dance?
Constantine Maroulis, sixth-place on American Idol's fourth season.

Sunday, September 14, 2008

I caught an episode of Making The Band 4 today which followed the rehearsals and first performances of Donnie, Day 26, and (of course) Danity Kane.  Here are my thoughts...

First of all, who is this Donnie guy?  I mean, I know who he is; he auditioned for the band and Diddy decided he would make it better as a solo artist...  Really, Diddy?  I mean, he has a nice voice and all, but it just doesn't seem like this is the right time for a guy like him.  Also, is he hot? I am really not sure...  He definitely needs a nose job, I know that much.  However, I mean, I guess he has sex appeal.

Second, there's Day 26.  I mean, I understand a little bit why this group exists...  It could be time for a Boyz II Men-type group, but I still think they're a little tacky.  However, I have to admit that their vocals are super tight.  There's nothing like a group of black guys all going off together.

Finally, there's Danity Kane, Diddy's original divas.  I mean, they're fierce.  Honestly, all of the girls are such great performers; as soon as they hit the stage, their faces light up and they know how to work the crowd.  It seems like Aubrey is never ever nervous--the just looks ready to go!

Anyhow, it's still a good show, even though it might not be quite as exciting as the seasons when Danity Kane was selected; that was some great stuff.  Laurie Ann Gibson has finally returned to the show--thank God--and she is adding some great drama, even though she's not quite as crazy as she used to be.

New Show Alert: MTV's Top Pop Group.  It's sorta like America's Best Dance Crew but they have to sing, too.  Sounds interesting...  It's hosted by Mario Lopez who is really turing out to be quite a reality TV whore.  That's fine with me.  Mmm, Mario Lopez.

Dancing With The Stars is returning for another season, and it promises to be better than ever!!!  Check out the cast here, including Kim Kardashian, Lance Bass, Toni Braxton, and Misty May-Treanor.  I'm rooting for Lance.

Final Thought: Hopefully everyone has seen this already.  Tina Fey as Sarah Palin (and Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton).

Thursday AM News

First and foremost, today is one of those days that creeps up out of nowhere and, before you know it, it's September 11 and the seventh anniversary of a day when terror rocked our country. Countless lives were damaged by the terrible events that occurred, and countless more by the aftermath of such an unthinkable tragedy.  Please take time today to remember all of those who were lost on and affected by the attacks of 9/11.

(Was that too serious?)

Anyhow, like any day, there is some serious reality TV gossip to report.  Let's begin.

Lauren Conrad is going to be an author.  Really, Lauren?  You're a celebrity (for no reason), a designer (for no reason), a cover-girl (for no reason), and now you have to be an author?  I mean, I guess we have to look at it like this: when life gives you opportunities, you should take them.

Nina Garcia has officially said "Auf Wiedersehen" to Project Runway because she's getting ready to start filming a new show!  Airing on the Style network, Running in Heels will follow the lives of various staff at Elle magazine.  Sounds kind of good!  New York Magazine did a nice piece on Nina (and her rivalry with Anne Slowey) recently, too; check it out!

Lots is going on on Project Runway, and of course I haven't really seen any of it.  Luckily for people like me, US Magazine has an awesome site with all kinds of updates, news stories, recaps, and photos.

New show alert: Hole In The Wall, on Fox.  It looks soooo bad.  Slash I don't really get it...

Jennifer Hudson @ The Democratic National Convention

Did I share this video before? I don't think so... Jennifer Hudson, my favorite Idol alum EVER, tore it UP at the DNC. I'm so proud of her. :)

Some stuff.

Happy Birthday, dear Sanjaya!  19 years old and still a joke.  :-\

I'm not sure if talk shows count as reality TV, but this clip is completely worth it.  One of Maury's guests from a few years ago, Victoria, age 15, was obsessed with having a baby...  According to her Myspace page she now has one, but that doesn't take away from the hilarity of her rantings and ravings a few years back.  Please check it out.

Christian Siriano from Project Runway is going to be on CNN this Friday taking questions from viewers.  It's part of their "young people doing great things" segment, or something like that. What would you ask The Fierce One?

The world of TV fashion divas is in turmoil right now...  Janice Dickinson and Tyra Banks are fighting!  Apparently Janice accused Tyra of stealing her idea to have a transgender as part of ANTM; Janice thinks that her show, Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency, was the first (and therefore the only???) that featured such a cast member.  Hmm...

VMA's

The VMA's were last night on MTV.  It was an interesting show, to say the least...  To be perfectly honest, I was a little disappointed.  Britney opened the show and looked SUPER hot, but alas, there was no comeback performace from her.  Hopefully soon...  What else?  Christina performed (and was introduced by the High School Musical cast) and she was OK.  I mean, Christina Aguilera ALWAYS sings live.  But she didn't last night.  That was a sad moment...    Tokio Hotel beat some fierce bitches to be named Best New Artist; who is Tokio Hotel?  Libby noted that they are "completely SCARY."  I would have to agree.  Rihanna was fine; not the best live singer, but she gives a killer performance.  Kid Rock sang "All Summer Long" and brought up the question--why do people who aren't from Torch Lake (or Northern Michigan) like that song?  We may never know.

Anyhow, yeah, it was an OK show.  Perez let us know his thoughts last night, and, for the most part, I completely agree with him.

PS--Download "Keeps Getting Better" by Christina Aguilera.  It's the song she performed last night and it's SO FIERCE.

Just a few updates...

Guess who's hosting the CMA's this year?  Country "singers" Julianne Hough, Kellie Pickler, and Taylor Swift.  Interesting choices, eh?  Hmmmm...  I think Julianne Hough has taken this reality TV thing too far; I mean, stick to one genre, ok?  Anyhow, I won't be watching, but it's newsworthy I suppose.

Work, Tyra!  Everyone's favorite hot tranny mess is the top earning female in primetime TV. Wow.  Last year she made $23 million.  Wow!  That's such a ridiculous amount of money for sitting on a couch gossiping (and groping) B-list celebrities and telling girls they are too ugly/unmotivated to be a model.  Ha.

Why am I being so cynical today?  I'm not sure.

Here's something to remove the cynicism...  It looks like this time it might be for real...  Have you seen it?  Secret video footage of a Britney rehearsal, possibly (hopefully!) for the VMA's which air tomorrow night.  My fingers are crossed...

New Stuff! (Gossip Edition)

Ready for some gossip?  I hope so, because there's lots to talk about.

It's true.  American Idol has officially added another judge for season 8.  Maybe this is what the show needs to bring back its top-notch ratings which seemed to slip last year...  Maybe.  So who is Kara DioGuardi, anyways?  Well, I'm glad you asked.  I researched her at my favorite reliable source (Wikipedia, duh.) and found out that she's a songwriter.  She's been nominated for Grammys (but has never won).  She seems like she's basically a budding pop star's dream come true; her songs have been recorded by the likes of Hilary Duff, Pink, Lindsay Lohan, Ashlee Simpson, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, and Carrie Underwood.

Marcel from Top Chef's second season was arrested in California over the weekend on suspicion of drunk driving.  I'd drive drunk too if I had that much potential to be a hottie but hair that was completely out of control.  Ha.

I can't wait to watch the Democratic National Convention tonight--JENNIFER HUDSON is performing!  The National Anthem, no less.  Rumor has it that she was hand-selected by Barack himself.  Talk about fierce!

Are Hef and Holly actually getting married?  Well, probably not, but it looks like there will be a "big wedding" on the forthcoming season of Girls Next Door.

Are you a girl?  Are you hot?  Are you between the ages of 21 and 32?  Are you a DIVA?  If you answered yes to the above questions, this show might be your ticket to success!

More later...

New Stuff! (On TV Edition)

Lots going on in the world of reality TV, and your favorite guide (that's me) is back and better than ever!

Have you watched Date My Ex?  It stars Jo and Slade from Real Housewives of Orange County and, as your probably guessed, they are seeking out mates for one another.  How original, right? Anyhow, I watched a couple of episodes today and it's pretty bad.  I used to think Slade was super hot; however, in this show, he just looks like a deadbeat.  Jo looks great, and some of the guys she is dating are SUPER hot.

Project Runway is back!  Season five has some really talented designers--my favorites are Jerell and Leanne, even though I've really only seen two episodes.  It's strange not having Nina Garcia around; I don't know if I like it.  It seems like Michael Kors is getting a little bitter, too. In any case, what a great show!  Loves it.

I'm almost back...!!!

Summer is winding down which means that Fierce Reality is heating up!  Here are a few stories to tie you over before I move back to Chicago (and cable television).

Looks like The Girls Next Door might be losing a roommate--Kendra!  I love her, but you know what, she doesn't seem to fit in with the other girls as well...  I'm not sure what it is about her. Anyhow, there are rumors circulating that Kendra is moving out of Hef's mansion (which everyone is denying) and that she's working on creating her own reality show.  Go figure.

I think I speculated on this a few months ago...  Heidi and Spencer (from The Hills) are planning on getting married on live TV.  Three letters, one word: DUH.  As pathetic as it may be, I'm sure the show will get huge ratings and a complete Heidi/Spencer spin-off will be soon to follow.
Bonus: Here's a fierce pic from The Hills season four promos.

One of the all-time craziest Real World alums is married--and pregnant!  Beth from season 2 is expecting her first child with new husband Matt something who is a real estate developer in SoCal.  Maybe her kid will be the first second-generation Real World cast member!

Work!  Project Runway's Christian Siriano is coming out with a line of maternity clothing. Kind of makes you want to be a fierce pregnant woman, doesn't it?

Check it out!

So, my sister, the twice-Emmy nominated film and television editor, has in recent months been away from the AVID machines to care for her beautiful daughter, my niece.  Anyhow, she's back to work and has a show that actually looks pretty interesting.  It's on HGTV and it's called Battle of the Design Star Judges.  I know what you're thinking--it doesn't sound that fierce.  Well, throw in some Vern Yip and Josh "Sparkle" Johnson (from Design Star) and you've got a fierce show.

Anyhow, if you have a chance, check out this great new show!  And look for my sister's name in the credits.  :)

Monday News

I'm doing some catch-up on what's been going on in the real world right now, so bare with me, as some of this news may be less-than-recent.  Whatever--it's new to me!

It looks like Bunim-Murray production company, the mastermind behind The Real World, is in talks to take charge of Project Runway when it moves to its new network...  Interesting.  Does this mean that we will spend more time getting to know how the contestants live and interact with one another?  Or does it mean that there will be more alcohol, sex, and foul language?  We'll have to wait and see!

Heidi Montag is planning on recording an album--this isn't news.  She is planning on making it a Christian album--this is news.  What does Heidi know about Christianity, anyways?  I mean, the Christian music market is definitely a great place for someone to start out; it's a totally different world over there, so to speak.

This is interesting: Ruben Studdard got married over the weekend in Alabama.  Huh.  I wonder if Clay was there to sing the arias and such at the service...

I wish I was on this show!  The Next Food Network Star is in full swing, and it looks like things are getting interesting (and delicious).

Here's a silly interview with David Archuleta, provided by our friends at Seventeen magazine. When asked about his celebrity crushes, he lists Jason Mraz and John Mayer.  Interesting. Maybe there's hope for me and him after all!

Gosh, lots of great Idol news lately...  Here are some updates on Paris Bennett (from season 5), and Carmen Rasmusen (from season 2), as well as another perspective on Ruben's wedding.

That's all for now!

**A Note from MLC**
So I've taken a job in Northern Michigan for the summer and right now I have neither cable nor internet at my house.  Needless to say, that makes blogging about reality TV a little difficult. NEVER FEAR!  I'll still try to provide some updates (and my usual witty banter) a few times a week, at least until I get some technological updates at my house.  :)  Keep reading.

OK, on to the good stuff.  Today is Randy Jackson's birthday, dawg.  You know, for all the shit people give him, he really has worked with some amazing talents: Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Carlos Santana, George Michael, Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, Tracy Chapman, 'N Sync...just to name a few.

Are the Idol judges the only ones doing anything lately?  Seems like it!  Paula and her boyfriend recently broke up...  Hopefully that means that she will be even crazier next season, with more emotional outbreaks and meltdowns.  YESSS!!!

Former Hogan Knows Best star and failed singer, Hulk's daughter Brooke, is looking for a job!  I just may have to get in touch with her "people" as I'm hosting a few parties this summer...  I bet she's cheap.  You know, it's actually kind of sad when people like her have to basically beg for a job; I mean, she takes herself so seriously and thinks she's such a star, but at the end of the day, we all need to make that money.

Some news.

So, Tila Tequila thinks that she is responsible for the legalization of gay marriage in California. Hahaha.  I mean, yeah, her show crossed a few boundaries I guess, but let's be honest: who in the California legislature watched her show?

This sounds interesting...  Bravo is going to have a spinoff of Top Chef for kids!  I wonder what kinds of challenges they will have.  Who can make the best PB&J?  Who can cook mac & cheese the fastest?  Haha.  Actually, I have a feeling that the show will be a hit, and I definitely look forward to watching it.

No surprise, but Oprah is atop Forbes' list of 100 richest/most powerful celebrities.

The Bad Girls Club is looking for new roommates for its third season on Oxygen.  Any takers? They will be interviewing in Cleveland, OH, Scottsdale, AZ, and Detroit, MI.  Random cities, don't you think?

Final Thought: Happy Birthday, Kendra!  You're fiercely.

SYTYCD & Top Chef, etc.

So You Think You Can Dance? has gotten into the good part of the season--the top 20 are now competing in couples and two people will be eliminated each week.  I caught a few of the performances tonight and I have to say that the talent this season is good but it doesn't yet look like there are more than a couple of standout stars.  Hmm...  I'm not ready to pick favorites yet or anything like that, but I have a feeling that in the next couple of weeks the best dancers will really step it up.  Great show.

I'm currently watching the Top Chef finale and it's pretty straightforward, as it should be.  The three remaining chefs must prepare a traditional four-course meal for a black-tie event: fish, poultry, red meat, and dessert.  Usually dessert isn't a required course for these finales, but I think it's an important part of being a top chef, you know?  Anyhow, Stephanie's cooking looks the best to me, for the most part.  Her philosophy is just making good food that people will enjoy.  Lisa's decided on an Asian-inspired menu which is strange, and her food looks good for the most part but I think it would have been a better idea to go with a more traditional menu. Richard is the gadget guy, bringing liquid nitrogen into the kitchen.  His food is incredibly innovative and showy, but it does look great.  Who wins?  Home viewers decided that Stephanie should be given the title (60% voted for her versus like 36% for Richard and 4% for Lisa).  STEPHANIE WINS!!!

This sounds like a joke, but considering it's Nicole Richie, it probably isn't.  The Simple Life star is trying to get a network to pick up her new show--in which they (she?) search for the next HER. Don't get it?  Me neither, really.  Oh, and get this: the winner of the show will then go on to have her own reality show.  It's like third-generation reality TV or something.  Crazy.

Celebrity Rehab's next season looks like it'll be a good one, with housemates such as Aaron Carter and Nikki McKibbon (from American Idol's first season).  Hahaha, what a show!

Sunday, June 8, 2008

Sunday stories...

TLC is bringing in a new show that's part-reality and part-game show.  And it's 100% sexy because the host is Cameron Mathison.  I love him.  Anyhow, the show is called Your Place Or Mine? and it pits families against one another in (I think) decorating challenges; the family who wins not only gets a redecorated house but a new car as well.  Interesting.

The girls from The Hills are fighting like crazy lately?  They've opened up a new bowling alley (I know, a bowling alley...) in The OC and Audrina and Lauren aren't even bowling on the same lane! What is the world coming to?  Read all about it here.

Grease on Broadway now has (at least) three reality TV veterans in its cast: Taylor Hicks from American Idol in the role of Teen Angel, as well as  Max Crumm as Danny and Laura Osnes as Sandy from that hideous show Grease: You're The One That I Want!

Paris Hilton is working hard on her new reality show...  You know, the one where she's looking for a new BFF.  I don't really know what it's called, but the girls chosen to be on the show look pretty ridiculous.  I am totally surprised that there isn't at least one gay on the show; I mean, I think one of my people would be the best accessory for Ms. Hilton.

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Thursday afternoon bits & pieces.

She was always my favorite on The Hills, and now MTV is rewarding Whitney Port with her own "reality" show!  The cameras will follow her as she jet-sets across the country from LA to NYC working for her fashion PR firm.  I'm mostly jealous that she gets to use the word "jet-set" to describe herself.

Who else is heading to reality TV?  That's right, Tara Reid.  Hahaha.  Don't worry, she's not going to be on American TV, but she'll be starring on Dancing With The Stars in Australia.  Ha!

What a rough life!  The next season of Survivor is being filmed in Africa, and they're having trouble getting shipments to arrive on time.  Because of that, the film crews have to sleep in tents!  TENTS!  In AFRICA!  Isn't that, like, a major step-up when you live in the jungle? Whatever, Jeff Probst is still hot.

YESSS!  David Archuleta has already signed an album deal with 19 Recording/Jive Records.  It's an obvious pairing, don't you think?

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

Funny (?) things.

My favorite American Idol trainwreck, Jessica Sierra, has been banned from being within 100 feet of a camera.  Random, right?  Who knew that you could have restraining orders against a camera???  She apparently wanted to do another stint on Celebrity Rehab, but a court has struck that dream down.  Sorry 'bout it, girl.

Heidi Montag plans on winning an Oscar.  Seriously.

Steve-O from Jackass has been sober for 85 days.  Apparently he was arrested for cocaine possession or something like that a while back...  Whatever, he's hot.

So You Think You Can Dance?'s final audition show aired tonight, and they started the episode with clips from dancers from previous auditions who have made it to Vegas...  Check it out!

Remember The Real Housewives of Orange County?  Well, Lauri's son has gotten himself in trouble--again!  This time he was selling heroin and ecstasy outside of a Comfort Inn hotel. Classy.  If you're gonna sell drugs like that, try to be outside of at least a Hilton Garden Inn or something.  Amateur.

"set the record straight"

Dina and Ali Lohan were on The View recently and they are just so insane!  If I hear the phrases "set the record straight" or "a normal family" from them one more time, I might explode.  Ali Lohan is seriously NOT 14 years old...  The record is straight: they're not a normal family.  But they're amazing.  Living Lohan premiered earlier tonight and I am curious to read some reviews about it...

That's all for now, folks.

Sunday, May 25, 2008

Kierra Bell, my hero. etc.

Does news count as reality TV?  You betcha it does, especially when it's this fierce!  The president pro-tem  of the Detroit City Council recently called her superior a "Shrek" during a Councilmeeting, so a news agency in Detroit set up a panel of 8th-graders to talk to the woman about how she handled the situation.  One of the girls, Kierra Bell (who is in 8th grade!!!) totally took her to TOWN.  It is fierce--please watch.  Kids are so smart these days!!!

Both Living Lohan and Denise Richards: It's Complicated are getting bad reviews.  Surprised? I'm not.

That's it.  Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Friday, May 23, 2008

Friday night news...

VH1 has released a five-minute preview for the upcoming show I Love Money. It looks like possibly the trashiest, most insane, stupidest, most amazing reality show yet. What's the premise? It's sort of like a Real World/Road Rules Challenge but it stars rejects from Rock Of Love, Flavor Of Love, and I Love New York. Brilliant!

DWTS alum Juliane Hough's album is for sale on Amazon.com for the outrageous price of $6.99. Must be a totally rockin' album.

Just like me, Fantasia Barrino has braces. Unlike me, Fantasia Barrino has a completely insane haircolor. Just like me, this picture from the AI finale will make you laugh (slash vom?).

You only need to be 18 to be on the next season of Survivor. Personally, I think that's a little young. I mean, I guess it makes more sense for teenagers to be allowed on that show than the Real World. Whatever.

It's Complicated, the Denise Richards reality show, debuting on E! next week, has been getting a lot of press lately. Are her kids going to be on the show? Is she trying to steal Charlie Sheen's sperm to have another one of his children? This is one of the best clips from The View I've ever seen--Whoppi totally GIVES IT to Denise.

Final Thought: FierceReality had over 100 viewers today--a new record! I'm pretty happy about that. :)

The Best American Idol Recap EVER!!!

The performance show on Tuesday wasn't too exciting, to be honest. The boxing theme ("The Battle of the Davids") did absolutely nothing for me; it was stupid and overplayed. I hated it. Each guy sang three times: Archuleta sang "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" (chosen by Clive Owen), "In This Moment" (The Idol Songwriter song), and "Imagine," his first big hit on the show; Cook sang "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (chosen by Clive Owen), "Dream Big" (Songwriter song), and "The World I Know." Both were good but Simon stated that the first two round went to Archuleta and after the final round he scored a "knockout." Also in the show was a performance by Ruben Studdard. Lame.

With that out of the way, it's on to the season finale!!! What a show it was... Packed with awesome performances, winners of years' past, and all kinds of celebrities. Here's the set list:

The Top 12 performed together with the new cast from So You Think You Can Dance? to The Temptations' "Get Ready." What a great idea to combine these two casts and give a little promo for SYTYCD, which premiered on Thursday night.

The Davids paired up and did a great duet of the song "Hero." They genuinely sounded really good together.

Next up was Syesha and guest performer Seal. They sang Seal's new single "Waiting For You," and it was an awesome performance. She'll definitely get a record deal out of this.

Jason Castro came out and did a beautiful rendition of "Hallelujah," during which he didn't look completely stoned.

The top 6 girls hit the stage next, performing a medley of Donna Summer songs. Then, out of nowhere, Donna Summer (looking like a hot tranny mess) joined them onstage and she and Syesha went back and forth for a while which was pretty OK. Amanda Overmeyer proved that she really had no place in the competition, while Carly and Ramiele reminded us how America can make really bad decisions.

Giving Carly some more stage time, she did a duet with Michael Johns, singing "The Letter." They totally rocked.

Next came the top 6 guys singing a few hits from and with Bryan Adams. All of the guys looked so cute together on stage (especially David Hernandez--yum) in their tuxedos... They sounded fine.

David Cook hit the stage with ZZ Top, one of my dad's favorite bands. Those guys are great--their beards are insane and it was funny seeing super-trendy Cook rocking "Sharp Dressed Man" with them.

I'm a little surprised she got to sing, but Brooke White performed "Teach Your Children" with Graham Nash of CSNY. It was touching (I guess), but a little lackluster.

I still don't know why some people (Perez, etc.) are so obsessed with them... The Jonas Brothers were next singing their hit(?) "S.O.S." I prefer the Rihanna song of the same name.

David Archuleta teamed up with OneRepublic for an awesome version of "Apologize." The only thing that would have made it better would have been if Archuleta was on a piano, too.

Then it was time for past winners to hit the stage: Jordin Sparks was first, looking rather awkward in a hideous gold dress, singing "One Step At A Time." There's no doubt that the girl can sing.

Looking totally hot in a white jacket/dress thing, Carrie Underwood came on stage next to sing her hit "Last Name." It was totally fierce. In her intro, Seacrest mentioned that she won her second CMA last weekend--go Carrie!

The final planned performance of the night was the Top 12 together with George Michael. It was--how do I put it--different. I mean, yeah, he's a big star, and it was a good idea to have them all come together on stage one last time, but George Michael ended up singing by himself for a good five minutes (of pure torture). Maybe I'm being a little harsh, but I just feel like he got way too much stage time.

All in all, there wasn't a bad performance the entire night. Totally entertaining. After all of that, it was time to announce the winner... I can't believe there were 97.5 MILLION votes. That proves that Idol still has so much power in the world of pop culture; I don't see the show ending any time soon. It's also surprising to me that the split was 56% to 44%... So yeah, David Cook won. Before Seacrest announced it, I was totally thinking I'd be fine either way, but when it happened, I was a little shocked and, let's be honest, pissed. Oh well.

The finale show also gave some camera time to other celebs. In the audience were Blake Lewis, Teri Hatcher, Melinda Doolittle, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Ashley Tisdale, and many others. I wish I had been there!

What a season it has been... Definitely no lack of controversy (finalists with records, gay strippers, Danny Noriega, etc.), personalities, or performances. Can't wait 'till January when it all starts again!

Oh, here is EW.com's in-depth (but not quite comprehensive) recap of the season finale. And check out a photo recap here!

Wednesday Afternoon News

I agree with Perez: Ali Lohan is creepy!  There's something so strange and completely unnatural about her, don't you think?  Gives me the willies...

The second season of Tila Tequila's A Shot At Love is starting of with a bang!  It didn't take the trashy straight guys long before they started drinking too much, hitting one another, and getting thrown out of the house and off the show!  Tila should have chosen what's-her-name from last season and been done with it.

Kristi Yamaguchi won season four of Dancing with the Stars!  Yay!  She's totally fierce and was probably the favorite from the beginning.  Her partner ain't bad, either...  Mmmmm, Mark Ballas...

Check out these pics of Aubrey from Danity Kane after a hot night on the town with Jesse McCartney!  Work.  They are both SO fierce.  I totally thought Jesse McCartney was gone forever, but now that he's 21 and totally hot, he has managed to get back on the scene.

A few other tidbits...

I don't think I'll actually watch the show, but this preview looks amazing for Living Lohan, which does not star Lindsay.  Ali Lohan is so strange looking.  Ew.  And Dina (the mom) looks like she's had some work done VERY recently.

Here are some predictions for a few of the season finales that will be airing over the next week, courtesy of Reality TV Magazine.

LC just can't seem to keep her best friends!  Perez has some evidence that Lauren and Audrina may be the next Hills "friends" to part ways.

I love Mark Ballas.

EW.com put together a great resource for those of us who didn't really watch season 6 of Dancing With The Stars: The Best of Season 6!  They highlight the ten best dances including two from Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas, one from Maks and Mel B (my second-favorites from season 5), and a stunning performance from the 13-year old dancers Brittany and Brandon.  It's fierce.

Checking out these clips made me remember how much I love Mark Ballas.  So much so, in fact, that I completely stalked his MySpace page.  Did you know he's an aspiring musician?  He has a band with the equally adorable Derek Hough.  This is my favorite pic from Mark's profile...duh. Ughhh he's so hot.

Saturday Night tidbits...

Talk shows count as reality TV, right?  Right.  Check out this clip from Oprah's show today--"Oprah's Favorite Things...for Summer."  As expected, the audience goes NUTS.  It's amazing.  I wish SNL would put their clips on YouTube so I could also share the sketch they do about it...

Apparently (hopefully?) Flavor of Love is FINALLY coming to an end.  The season finale is also being billed as a series finale, but who knows.

I'm not really sure why, but VH1 has bought the exclusive rights to every season of The Bachelor, including the three or four seasons of The Bachelorette.  Why?  Don't they have enough dating shows?

It's official: Nina Garcia will definitely be a part of Project Runway's fifth season.  Her new position at Elle allows her to still hold her ties to Heidi and the gang.  Dank sei Gott!

Here is a great schedule of all the reality shows on TV this summer!  I haven't figured out what I'm gonna do yet because I really don't watch that much TV in the summer...  Ugh. Ghostwriters?  Guest bloggers?  IDK.
